The first human sperm has been created from stem cells

Just as the subject of stem cells got quiet a group of scientists from US made a remarcable development.

Florida Loses Stem Cell Battle

http://www.stemcellweblog.com/2009/04/florida-loses-stem-cell-battle.html

The Florida House just banned funding for embryonic stem cell research, effectively adding Florida to the list of states that will discard embryos from fertilization clinics instead of using them to help save lives through research.

But Bush’s presidential ethics advisors make one last stand before they leave for other pastures. The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine gets thumped by a out-of-sorts essayist. Texas gets religion (of a sort). Teaching Darwin’s theory survives in Texas but the complexity of cells doesn’t. Rudolf Jaenisch once told me about the egg’s amazing… Continue

@cantubury on twitter asked us the following question in response to a story on scientists warning of the fraud of stem cell "banks": what are the "gold standards" for stem cell banks and distribution? Would anyone like to share examples of industry…
